Hobson's Choice

Garden Report

The Garden Report: The irises and tulips are beginning to get a little stunted, seeming to ask the question, "did we make the right decision in coming up, or is it still winter?" Warm weather seems to be on its way now, so we hope they'll stick around and bloom.

Yesterday, my dad and I chopped down a wretched evergreen tree in the front yard that was stunting the growth of everything else nearby. Then we planted a dogwood tree ("white), an azalea ("very cherry"), and spread out two scoops of mulch. We took the sod taken up for planting the tree, and we spread it on the bare patches in the back yard. The dog immediately dug them up and chewed them, but it was work a try.

The forsythia, daffodils, and crocus seem to be getting past their peak; we did find one crocus in the yard that Eleanor could take to school for "Something that Reminds Me of Spring" day.
