Hobson's Choice

leaves

Want to mulch your leaves into your garden plot, but don't have a mulching lawnmower? Here's an earth friendly tip. Rake your leaves into a large pile. Get two rambunctious three year olds to leap into the pile.

Repeat.

Repeat.

Repeat approximately 30 times over next few days.

You will notice that your leaves are (it's a miracle!) mulched. Rake up the debris and put it on your garden. The tiny fragments that remain are "mulch in place," recommended by all the cool eco-gardening sites.

The funny thing is that this actually works. I never before imagined that I would be raking leaves out of my neighbor's lawn and into mine so that Eleanor could jump in them.
