Hobson's Choice

Comfort

Predictably, grief has struck. The house moved into, the paperwork filled, the boxed unpacked, there is time to think about a lost baby.

A conversation between Eleanor and me:

-- Mommy sad about?
-- Do you remember the baby that couldn't come live with us?
-- Yes.
-- Mommy is feeling sad about that baby.
-- What her name?
-- I don't know what the baby's name would have been.
Long pause
-- Her in her new home now.
-- What?
-- Her in her new home now.

Wordsworthian, but comforting still.
