Hobson's Choice

Working in Chris's office

It's been an incredible shot in the arm to start working in Chris's office a few hours a week. It's immensely productive to work in a work-y setting, surrounded by the noises of work and people who are working, the smells of a giant office building and the whir of massive building ventilation.

In short, it's nice to work in a room without a spare bed and a yowling cat. To paraphrase Sandy Kahn Shelton: you don't want a home office. Home is the place where if you feel the need to clean a bathtub, you can probably find one that could use some scouring powder.

And the great thing about working in Chris's office is that it's so chaotic, filled with so many piles that I don't dare touch or move anything for fear of disturbing the piles. So I just plunk down in front of the computer and stare at nothing else.
