Five is the Magic Number
Suddenly, Eleanor has this vision of what it will be like to be five years old, which she thinks may happen sometime next week or perhaps never. But here are just some of the things she will be able to do when she's five.
-- Sit in a grown-up chair
-- Eat a hot dog (or that may be when she's a "great big grownup" or a "huge woman")
-- Walk to school all by herself
-- Know how to look both ways
-- Go to kindergarten (okay, that one's true)
-- Ride a bicycle (that one, too).
-- Know when her bedtime is.
-- Put herself to bed.
