Hobson's Choice

Back to the blog

We've been in the new house for a week now, and we've had internet access for a couple of days.

Eleanor is cranky, cranky. We still see her sweet self much of the time, but she's much crankier than we've seen since she was 9 months old.

She has a hell of a diaper rash to start her off, and moving seems to disagree with her as much as anybody. We had our first houseguests this week, and Eleanor spent much of the night shouting. Not whimpering or crying, but shouting "No."

We finally gave her benedryl at 2 a.m. to give some portion of the household some sleep. When I asked her in the morning about the previous night, she said "Wes' 'Ginia." She adores the new house and her new room, but she's not so sure about the whole shebang.

Mom and Dad came for a brief visit on Friday; today, E. was convinced that they would be here again today when we woke up from her nap.

Tomorrow, real life hits in earnest. Chris will get up in the morning to to work, and Eleanor and I will begin our adventures.

Having Chris here for a week has been a blessing on our spirits and on our house. It's starting to get pretty much in order.

Tomorrow, we cross the river to Proctorville, Ohio where we hear that(a) there is no sales tax on food and (b) the Kroger's has race car shopping carts.
